Hi, I'm Daphne

My body of work is developed from a longing to connect with my Greek heritage. Loud and inviting, these paintings are portals to seemingly mundane moments that have fascinated me. I grew up understanding the music and dances before the words. From that lens, my objective is to recreate experiences as if you were uninhibited by language and being an outsider, to truly feel the richness of the everyday. Whether that be at an overwhelming summer festival, enjoying the midnight Meditteranean air, surrounded by blues musicians, or sitting in a smokey tavern and sharing a drink with strangers that feel oddly familiar.

Daphne Philippoussis(b.2001, Huntington, Pennsylvania)

splits her time working in Philadelphia and her maternal village in Epirus, Greece. She has received her BFA from Tyler School of Art. Her work has been exhibited in both solo and group shows in Rome and Philadelphia.
